By Steven Keehner Before I begin this part of Undrafted, I want to establish that if I don’t win this upcoming week, then the next post will be the final post of this series. It’s not that I don’t enjoy this, nor that I don’t that you, the readers, aren’t enjoying it. I don’t see the point of updating you all of something I don’t think is going anywhere. So, I’m issuing an : If I win this week, I keep going. If I lose, next week’s part will be the last. Let’s get into Part Seven. As I’ve already shown (and mentioned kind of), this week ended up as another loss, dropping my record down to a disappointing 1-5. Me starting Maclin in two leagues was really embarrassing to deal with; I’ve been playing Fantasy Football since 2010 and I should’ve known better to double check my starters and make sure they’re actually playing. In all honesty, I still lost by like 50+, so it’s not like I could’ve started anyone else that would’ve changed it. My continued refusal to start Chris Thompson has continued to bite me in the ass as he had another great week while sitting on my bench. Even though I have talented players on this team, I don’t quite have enough to actually defeat someone else, which sucks. With that depressing overview of Week Six out of the way, let’s look at our new signings for this crucial game. New Signings! New Player/Released Saints D/ST/Falcons D/ST Andrew Luck/Jeremy Maclin Duke Johnson Jr./J.J. Nelson· The Saints D/ST=Stream! Andrew Luck is just a desperation signing; I’m sure he’s done for the year, but what do I have to lose at this point? With Duke Johnson Jr., I think he can be a decent player to have on my roster. I’ll be desperately needing him to perform this week. After that short and brief overview of my signings this week, let’s preview this make-or-break game! To quote Kurt Cobain, “There is nothing I could say that I haven't thought before”. Nothing has changed, whether it is FantasyPros sponsoring me, or my team having a chance of winning a game. To put this nicely, it would take a literal miracle for my team to win this week. I will need to get the best performance out of every single player that is starting, which is a longshot. Let’s look around the league for what could be the last time! Regardless of what happens this week, whether Undrafted continues or not, I will be playing for pride. I haven’t even hit the 500 points scored mark and we’re getting ready to hit the halfway point of this season. I had no serious expectations when the whole concept of this was to start with a worse team than everyone else. But to be down this much was not what I thought would happen. It hurts that not a single person in my league wanted to trade or even discuss the idea of it either. I’ve still enjoyed writing these though, it has been a blast! I want to bring this concept back next season, but maybe do it in a league with other Redditors. Or I could include you guys more in my team selections and signings. I don’t know at the moment; all my focus is on this Sunday.
Depending on what happens this week will determine what Part Eight will be; if we win, I’ll give you a typical post like this. If we lose, I’ll spend the post giving some of my thoughts on the experiment, what I think went wrong on my part, and my possible plans for next season. Thank you all for reading, whatever happens this week, you’re all amazing for reading this and I love you all for that! What is Undrafted? Have you ever wondered if you could win a league, without drafting a single player? No? Okay sorry. But seriously, this is an experiment I’m running to see how far this idea could go. Using only Undrafted (roll credits) Free Agents and trades, I’m building up a team in a 10-team, PPR league with random users on ESPN. This is posted every Thursday, right before the TNF game!
