With the New York Yankees coming one game short of making the World Series, many questions are being asked. With longtime Manager Joe Girardi being let go after 10 seasons in the Bronx, many are curious about who will be at the helm next season? Also, with a great amount of young and talented players almost ready to make the step up, what does that mean for the current players on the roster? And which current Yankees could be on their way out? I’ll be answering those questions, along with reviewing the Yankees’ outlook for this upcoming offseason. This will include a list of possible Yankee players that could be on the move, potential targets you could see in pinstripes next season, possible call-ups from the minor leagues, and who I think will be the new Manager for the Bronx Bombers next season!

Last week on Undrafted, I issued an ultimatum to my team: win and we continue, or this article, will be the last one. We’re struggling at 1-5; my playoff chances are on their last breath. Could we pull off a victory to extend this series until the end of the season? Or will this be the swan song for Undrafted? By Steven Keehner
In honor of Sheffield Football Club, The First Soccer Club in the World, who is celebrating their 160th anniversary, I want to take time to talk about just one story that has emerged from the foundation of Sheffield FC: mine. By Steven Keehner
Note: This was written in 2016. This was originally my college essay, but it was also written for The Nassau Reading Council's Best Young Writer Competition, which I won. “Either write something worth reading or do something worth writing” is what I scribble on my Senior Quotes and Activities sheet. As I sketch the words into my paper, I flashback eight years, to when I was standing with my Mom in our kitchen. By this time, I had become obsessed with SportsCenter. I was glued to watching these journalists tell stories throughout the sporting world, it seemed like the perfect job to me. “Is that their actual job Mom?” “Of course Steven, why wouldn’t it be?” My eyes flashed open with excitement! With one seemingly pointless question, my life would be changed forever; I knew from that moment what I wanted to do. I wanted to be a journalist. By Steven Keehner
Before I begin this part of Undrafted, I want to establish that if I don’t win this upcoming week, then the next post will be the final post of this series. It’s not that I don’t enjoy this, nor that I don’t that you, the readers, aren’t enjoying it. I don’t see the point of updating you all of something I don’t think is going anywhere. So, I’m issuing an : If I win this week, I keep going. If I lose, next week’s part will be the last. Let’s get into Part Seven. By Steven Keehner
I’m not one for getting sick. Whenever I get sick, it comes and goes within a day or two, but what happened this past week was different: I had the flu and a fucking stomach bug. There haven’t been many moments in my life where I’ve thought to myself, “Shit, I’m going to die”, but this was 100% one of those moments. So, if this part isn’t up to par with the others, I apologize; I’m still not anywhere near 100%, but I don’t want to let you guys down! Without further ado, here is Week Five! By Steven Keehner
Before I get into Part Five of Undrafted, I want to take a few moments to address the comments I’ve been receiving in the last few parts: thank you! I love journalism, it’s what I want to dedicate my life to. However, it’s always difficult describing that to people without receiving criticism. But when I see the positive feedback from you all, it makes my day, and it gives me a little more hope in myself, so once again, thank you! Entering my Week Four matchup, I knew a win would be vital. If I want to have any hope of pushing this team to the postseason and beyond, I will need every ounce of luck I can find. With my massive signing in Stefon Diggs, could I recover from my horrific Week Three performance, or would I continue my head first spiral into last place? By Steven Keehner In a week that I can only describe as one of my most interesting ever, I would be lying to you all if I said that Fantasy Football was on the top of my priorities throughout this past week. The world is changing rapidly for me. Not just in bad ways, but in amazing, fantastic, and good ways as well! But as I mentioned, there have been a few downsides; allow me to show you one of them…

Whether it was the US Hockey Team in 1980, Appalachian State in 2003, or Leicester City in 2016: an underdog defying the odds is always sweet. Allow me to show you another: By Steven Keehner Before you read Part Two, make sure you've checked out the first part. If you haven’t read Part One, click here!
Before I start Part Two; I want to thank everyone who read Part One on Reddit and on my website! The feedback was amazing and I can't believe how many people are starting their own Undrafted Challenge! I can’t wait to keep going, this should be fun! Now with that’s out of the way, let’s start with Part Two! |
